FAQs
frequently asked Questions:
Q: What kind of art do you make? A: dark, bold, honest work-mostly black and grey, heavily influenced by tattoo culture, my experiences, and how i feel. i write poetry as well, very raw, emotional stuff. but if there is something in particular you’d like contact me and we’ll make it happen!
q: can i get a tattoo of one of your designs? a: If it speaks to you reach out. im not tattooing in a shop right now but plan to bring umbra to skin soon. im down to talk about permissions and possibilities!
q: do you take commissions? a: yes and no depending on what you desire. contact me though and im sure we can come up with something!
q: is your art digital or traditional? a: both all pieces start by hand-sketch, ink, paint, some get cleaned up digitally. if you want a high quality digital print i can offer that to you.
q: how long does it take you create a piece? a: That depends on a lot of different factors. how inspired i am, how clear my vision on the finished product is, how much time i have to spend on it. some flow quickly as hours. others weeks but i always communicate any time constraints to the customer.
q: where do you get your inspiration from? a: a lot of places, my life, old poetry, heartbreak, shadows, survival. The moments between the noise and the silence
q: can i meet you or see your studio? a: this site is my studio for now. id love to have a brick and mortar studio one day. this studio is open 24/7 and no one gets judged at the door!
q: do you do collaborations? a: i’m open to them if the vibe is right. i respect rawness and vision-if you have both, lets connect!
q: did art really save you? a: yes for sure! when i was a kid art was my way to escape and as i got older it was a way to look into myself when the chaos around me got to be too much. this isn’t a business built on hype-its built on healing.
q: why the name “umbra studios”? a: “umbra” means shadow. Thats where i lived my life for so many years, in the shadows. until, i turned it into art. this studio is where the dark finds shape and sometimes light.
